Company Websites
A new requirement for limited companies has come in from January 2007 regarding disclosure of information on websites.
Where the website is operated by a limited company the following details have to be given somewhere on the website:
The name of the company.
- Its place of registration (normally registered in England and Wales).
- Registered office address.
- Company registration number.
If the company is also a charity then this should be stated and the charity number should be included.
If the company is an investment business that fact must be stated. This last point will be very rare in practice.
These requirements simply update current company law which states this information must be given on company notepaper and orders and have simply been extended to electronic communication. This will also mean that the information must be given in any emails. We imagine in practice that it is easiest to add the information as part of the standard signature added to each email.
