Who We Are

A J Carter & Co was founded in 1981 by Andrew Carter who set up the practice in Witney as he was keen to be involved in the local community. Over the years the business expanded with Anthony Williams joining the firm in 2012, becoming a partner in July 2016.

Over the last few years the practice has grown steadily and the client base, although principally centred around West Oxfordshire, is spread across the whole country. We act for clients from all walks of life including personal tax work, small and large family businesses (both partnerships and corporate) and charities. We are keen to provide a friendly and personal service to all of our clients.

Partners

Andrew Carter continues his involvement within the town and local community; he served as town Mayor for a two year period and is currently actively involved with the Rotary Club of Witney. Andrew has largely been responsible for establishing the practice as one of the leading firms within the town. Anthony Williams is a Chartered Certified Accountant and joined us in 2012, becoming a partner in July 2016. He looks after a portfolio of company clients and assists the partners with accountancy and taxation work. Anthony is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Consultant

Nicholas Williams was our specialist tax partner for about 40 years but has recently retired. Nick is still a Chartered Accountant and member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He is available to us for consultancy work and will be ensuring a smooth handover of his client portfolio as appropriate.

Our Managers

In addition to the two partners we employ a manager who is also a qualified accountant. We have found that by only employing qualified staff we are able to offer a high quality and reliable service. 

Andy Brooks qualified in 1985 and joined the practice in 1990. He looks after a portfolio of small and medium sized clients. Andy is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Email Andy.
